Monday session: a supportive tutored group using all mediums, whilst the Friday session is untutored.
The classes are informal, and members are encouraged to unlock their latent creativity. We work in a variety of media such as charcoal, watercolour, acrylic paint, soft pastel, oil pastel, pen and wash, aquarelle pencils and occasionally collage.
Every week there is particular subject or theme for the class to consider and work on, but members are also free to do their own work and can expect help and encouragement from the tutor. We hold an exhibition of work in the Clarke Foley every year which runs throughout the summer.
Almost equally importantly, classes fulfil a social need - people, sometimes lonely people, enjoy working together, having a coffee break in the café chatting with friends discussing their work and putting the world to rights. Classes help to shape their week and give it purpose.
Friday session: We are a small group of people interested in art. We do not have any tutor but do any sort of art we enjoy. Various members of the group are experienced artists who will pass on their expertise to other members. Anyone is very welcome to join us on Friday mornings, whether you have experience in art or not.
