The Alzheimer’s Society Wellbeing café is held twice a month at The Clarke Foley. The café is free to all attendees and tea, coffee, fruit juice, fruit and cakes are provided. During the event we have a singer who concentrates on music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The café provides a perfect environment for socialising and forming friendships. Attendees also have the opportunity to talk to our Dementia Advisors who provide excellent support and advice. Over the last ten events we have had an average of 25 attendees and this number is slowly climbing. Please feel free to bring a loved one with you, but if you would prefer to come alone then that’s perfectly fine. The café is also the perfect place to find out more about the Clarke Foley Centre, as volunteers and staff are always willing to give tours and advise on other regular activities taking place there.
Everyone who attends this café leaves smiling and invigorated, the volunteers put a lot of work into ensuring no one is left alone and are encouraged to sit with others and be a part of the whole experience. Dementia can be very isolating and this provides an opportunity for people to feel safe and able to relax with their loved one in a supportive environment.
